Denominator Catheter-related bacteremia:

Total number of days spent on hemodialysis (HD) catheter, among in-centre HD patients

Peritonitis:

Total number of days spent on peritoneal dialysis (PD) catheter, among all PD patients

Numerator

Catheter-related bacteremia:

Total number of cases of catheter-related bacteremia reported

Rate per 1,000 patient days on hemodialysis is calculated as:

(number of catheter-related bacteremia cases divided by total number of patients days on hemodialysis) times 1,000


Peritonitis:

Total number of cases of peritonitis reported

Rate per patient year on peritoneal dialysis is calculated as:

(number of peritonitis cases divided by total number of patient days on peritoneal dialysis) times 365
