Key Elements of Conservative Renal Care

This document provides a definition of conservative renal care and the key elements in the delivery of this care. Multidisciplinary care teams in Ontario’s Regional Renal Programs can use this guide to:

  • recommend conservative renal care as a treatment
  • facilitate the recognition of healthcare needs for patients who may benefit from a palliative approach to care
  • promote the use of standard terminology and delivery expectations for conservative renal care
